SSC exam pass rate drops to 68.45

The results of this year’s Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations were officially published at 2 PM on Thursday, revealing a significant drop in the average pass rate compared to last year.

According to the Ministry of Education, the average pass rate across 11 education boards in the country stands at 68.45%, a steep decline from the 83.04% recorded in 2024.

This year’s SSC and equivalent exams were held from April 10 to May 13, with a total of 1,928,970 students registered to participate. Among them were 967,739 female and 961,231 male candidates.

Female students once again outperformed their male counterparts, with a pass rate of 71.03% compared to 65.88% for male students. This marks the tenth consecutive year that girls have achieved higher pass rates in SSC examinations.

A total of 139,032 students obtained GPA-5 (the highest grade point) across all education boards in 2025, compared to 182,129 students in 2024 — a noticeable decrease in the number of top scorers.

Under the Dhaka Education Board, the pass rate this year is 67.51%. Out of 382,495 registered students, 379,247 sat for the exams, including 177,938 male and 201,309 female students. A total of 37,068 students from this board secured GPA-5.

In the Dakhil examinations conducted by the Bangladesh Madrasah Education Board, the overall pass rate stands at 68.09%, with 9,066 students obtaining GPA-5 across the country.

This year, the SSC examinations were conducted in a fair and peaceful environment at 2,291 centers, including 446 centers under the Dhaka Board and 8 centers abroad.

The total number of candidates under the nine general education boards was 1,490,142, comprising 701,538 male and 788,604 female students from 18,084 institutions.

Educational institutions can access results from their respective education board websites. Additionally, students and guardians can obtain results via SMS, and applications for re-evaluation can also be submitted through SMS.
